      Phosphatidyl Serine helps calm cortisol

The following is in my personal experience only: I've had issues with spiking cortisol for years (former very stressful job and pregnancy seemed to alter my physiology; also, genetic testing reveals I have a gene that predisposes me to feeling stress acutely, and my system has a tough time processing and eliminating it). When I sense my cortisol is getting a little overactive (sensations of rubbery legs, tiredness, weakness, shakiness, unrelenting hunger), I start up taking PS150 Phosphatidylserine (Soy-free) by Designs for Health for a couple of weeks at the key times that cortisol naturally spikes per day.  This recommendation was given to me years ago by a nutritionist I consulted when I first had the problem. Testing showed my cortisol was elevated all 4 times of the day back then. Please understand this is my personal experience; I am not a medical practitioner, and my opinions are just that: my personal opinion. If you think you have elevated cortisol due to stress, I would consult with doctor (perhaps a functional medicine doctor) or nutritionist to run tests and know what's really going on under the hood. I hope this is of help!

      Pros

It really helps me to reel it in and feel good again after just a week or two of use. Phos Serine is known for directly targeting cortisol, according to my nutritionist

      Cons

The price. It works - but it's expensive. Best for short runs. There are other natural means of controlling cortisol as well, such as through exercise, proper diet, polyphenols, sleep!, meditation and other herbals. See a physician and nutritionist for specific testing and recommendations tailored to you.
